Bravè MMA & Fitness Program

Guardians of Tomorrow

A collaboration between BRAVE MMA and Raha Psychology

The Guardians of Tomorrow program, a transformative initiative dedicated to empowering at-risk youth in our community, particularly those from BIPOC communities.

Our program is driven by a singular and profound goal: to equip these young individuals with the essential life skills, resilience, and positive role models they need to thrive and succeed, despite the challenges they may face. We recognize the pressing issue of gang involvement among our youth, and we are committed to addressing it head-on through structured martial arts training, psychological support, and meaningful community engagement.

So, what exactly does our program entail?

At its core, Guardians of Tomorrow offers a comprehensive range of activities carefully designed to meet the diverse needs of at-risk youth. Picture this: bi-weekly Jiu Jitsu classes, where these young individuals not only learn self-defense techniques but also develop discipline, focus, and confidence – invaluable qualities that will serve them well throughout their lives.

But our program goes beyond physical training. We recognize the importance of mental well-being, which is why we offer regular therapy sessions facilitated by trained psychologists. These sessions provide a safe space for participants to explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and build emotional resilience – essential tools for navigating life’s challenges.

Furthermore, our program is deeply rooted in culture and community. Through strategic partnerships with esteemed institutions such as the Alwijdaan Institute of Canada and Gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha, we integrate cultural activities and engagement into our program. These partnerships not only provide participants with a sense of cultural connection and belonging but also foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of their heritage.

Now, who exactly are the ideal participants for our program?

We target individuals under the age of 18, with a particular focus on at-risk youth in our community. These young individuals come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and cultural identities. Many of them face significant barriers, including financial constraints and cultural stigma surrounding mental health. However, they also possess incredible strengths – resilience, cultural connection, and a desire for a better future. Our program aims to build upon these strengths while mitigating risk factors associated with gang involvement through structured activities, mentorship, and psychological support.

So, how does participation in our program benefit both the individual and the community at large?

The benefits are manifold. Participants gain essential life skills, resilience, and positive relationships – reducing their susceptibility to gang involvement and setting them on a path towards success. Through cultural activities and partnerships, we foster community connection and support, providing a sense of belonging and empowerment to at-risk youth. And let’s not forget our unwavering commitment to mental health support – ensuring that participants receive the necessary psychological support and guidance to navigate life’s challenges effectively.

In conclusion, Guardians of Tomorrow is more than just a program – it’s a beacon of hope, a catalyst for change, and a testament to the power of community. Together, we can empower our youth, transform lives, and build a safer, more resilient Edmonton for generations to come.

We had an amazing time at Bravé. And I cannot say anything enough, because from the moment we stepped in for a trial class to my son's classes, they are all awesome and always welcoming! The coaches are professional, knowledgeable, disciplined and skilled. Always giving their best for their students' development. We will for sure come back once our schedule is manageable. I will 100% recommend Bravé, no doubt!!!
I truly cannot say enough about how amazing this gym is and how proud I am to be a member of their wonderful community. It is truly a place where I have felt so genuinely welcomed and have already learned so much in only a couple months of training. From the coaches to personal trainers to everyone who works at Bravé- they are all equally amazing and wonderful people who work to keep a very cleanly, professional and kind facility. They are always so encouraging and help in any way they can which is incredibly appreciated especially being newer to the sport. I have had the privilege to meet and be coached by KB and Sean and I honestly couldn’t say enough amazing things about each of them. They both hold themselves to an extremely high standard and both are incredibly knowledgeable in their fields and I say this 100% certain as I’ve gotten to work with them directly. However, the amount of knowledge, kindness and passion has been proven true throughout every member of staff including Kenny, Nader, Prince and Adam who I’ve gotten to interact with in the past couple months of my life just through the day to day activities. Each member is truly so kind and supportive throughout everyone’s journey. You can tell by being a member within Bravé, that they work incredibly hard to ensure that everyone is happy with the service and knowledge they are being taught as every class, people are pushed to the best of their abilities and encouraged to continue to work hard. The gym itself has an excellent environment in all regards including their cleanliness, the social aspect and the physical facility. They are truly incredible all around and throughout and I truly don’t have enough words to say how deeply this place has changed my life and I look forward to continuing my journey at Bravé.
We can't say enough good things about this place. Children and youth who are in the early stage of the resettlement process in Edmonton have the chance to learn martial arts free of charge. Coach Kenny is a phenomenal coach. He is very welcoming and ensures that every kid feels safe and welcomed. Free Play for Kids and Catholic Social Services are very fortunate for this partnership. Everyone is willing to help each other. You can find good rolls all around, regardless of your own level. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great workout, strength, skill-building, and so much more
The whole team at Bravè is incredible. The vibrancy & positive energy is contagious. The instructors do such an incredible job to demonstrate technique from the basic’s to more advanced movements. Special shoutout to Prince, Kenny & KB for doing such a phenomenal job developing such a great culture at this gym.
There are great gyms & excellent coaches out there, but Brave stands out above the rest! Of course we are receiving world class coaching & learning great technique. But there is more here & you feel it as soon as you walk through their doors. I attribute this to the natural ability of the entire coaching team to be community builders. This is such a unique skill & they bring it to life with intention in each of their interactions. It goes beyond the greetings & smiles, they take the time & they care. They partner with other local organizations that are values-aligned & amplify great causes beyond martial arts. They are respected in the community & prioritize leaving a positive lasting impact. The best part is, this models the way for all members - kids & adults alike - to be genuine with each other & act with the same care. We are so grateful to have found this place that welcomed our whole family with open arms & I can’t say enough about how excellent their approach & leadership has shaped excellent programs, especially one that my kids at varying ages all love. Over the summer, our littlest one attended her first full day summer camp ever & she wanted so badly to invite her new friend for a play date - a 14 yr old! I’ve never seen mixed age groups work so well & inspire real connections to be built between kids (I had run into the teen & she indeed had enjoyed spending the day with a little as well!) This is just one of many examples of how they do things different here & it works. Way to go team! Can’t wait to see all the great things to come 🤙🏽
